The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has mandated DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) registration to control SMS spam. DLT is a block-chain based registration system. Every business entity that wants to communicate with customers will now have to register on the DLT platform. The introduction of DLT aims to create more transparency and reduce the incidence of spam & fraud done through SMS.
To comply with the regulations, the SMSes sent through the greytHR platform to your employees must be approved by the Telecom operators. For a smooth transition, we have already initiated the process of pre-registering SMS templates. While we await approval of SMS templates, there may be a short-term disruption in SMS service from April 1st. We recommend utilizing Email for communication to employees till further notice.

Lately, there has been a rise in SMS spams. To control the spams, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) now requires all firms to register on a new regulatory platform (Distributed Ledger Technology) for sending SMSes to employees.
The mandatory registration means that the SMSes you send through the greytHR platform would only be based on registered templates. To ensure a smooth transition, we are getting multiple SMS templates pre-registered for greytHR. We are awaiting the approval and once approved by the Telecom operators, the templates will be updated.
To ensure compliance with the TRAI regulations, customization of SMS is no longer supported. The new rule is effective from 01st February 2021.
Kindly note that while the approval process is going on, you might experience a short-term disruption in SMS service from 1st February. We recommend utilizing greytHR Email service for communication till further notice.
